Als journalist kent Rutger Castricum heel wat voorstanders en minstens evenveel tegenstanders. De man is op zijn eentje verantwoordelijk voor het groot maken van de termen hufter-journalistiek en afzeik-tv. Hij draait er namelijk zijn hand niet voor om om de slachtoffers van zijn interviews helemaal in hun hemd te zetten. Hij voornamelijk bekend met Powned en GeenStijl en lijkt niet van plan de mainstream te vervoegen. Achter de schermen is hij een gewone man die zijn vrouw Daphne en zijn vier kinderen dolgraag ziet er ook alles voor over heeft. Het koppel huwde 7 jaar geleden en zijn gezin wordt angstvallig uit de pers weggehouden. Vast omdat hij hen niet het slachtoffer wil laten worden van iemand als hijzelf.
